Project Overview

A regional telecom operator required an effective optical network monitoring solution for its FTTH ODN infrastructure. We have proposed our Optical Network Monitoring System (ONMS) to be deployed at the central OLT site for 7×24 livefiber monitoring. The proposed solution covers 6 remote HUB-BOX nodes with link lengths ranging from 308m to 2000m and monitors 24 fiber cores without impacting existing PON services.

Solution

Adopting online polling technology with OTDR, OSW optical switch and WDM components. The system uses 1625nm monitoring wavelength, paired with FBG reflectors at remote cabinets.

It compares real-time OTDR traces against baseline waveforms to automatically spot fiber breaks, abnormal attenuation and ONU offline status, and triggers alarms with accurate fault location.

The 1U rack-mount unit features dualredundant hotswappable modules for high reliability.
